My first “Hands On” subject is Paula Hoffmann, a clothing and home décor designer located in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey. Eager to kick off my 2015 projects, I did some research on local designers, dressmakers and seamstresses on New Year's Day. I found her through Google, sent her an email, and she agreed to participate. Paula serves clients in the Bergen and Passaic County, NJ areas.
Paula began sewing at age nine. By age ten, she was creating clothing for herself and it has been her passion ever since. In addition to running her own business, Paula is the tailor for a dry cleaner and teaches sewing. Currently she is teaching three girls – aged from 9 – 13 - because she thoroughly enjoys passing her talents on to the next generation. Paula comes from a creative family – her mother is a portrait artist, and her two sisters also work hands on, one as a sculptor and graphic artist and the other as an interior designer. Paula also sings at St. Anthony's church in Hawthorne and practices her singing while she sews!
If you desire a unique, custom, one of a kind dress or other garment, Designer Paula Hoffmann will work with you to make your vision come to life. Paula believes that the way clothing fits an individual is of the utmost importance in flattering and enhancing any figure type. Custom garments are the ideal, but excellent tailoring can give ready-made clothes that same custom look. Her experience with the intricacies of garment construction enables her to expertly fit clothing. She can pinpoint exactly where a fitting problem is and correct it.
